Think grand when planning your business
It's important to plan ahead - way ahead - so that you see the forest from the trees. There is a well known saying: people don't plan to fail, they fail to plan.
Planning ahead is like driving down the road in a car. If your eyes only focus just in front of the bumper, sooner or later you will hit something.
When you think about your business in a grand way, you look at all the possibilities of where you can take that business, who your products or services will benefit as you grow and expand, how your businesses marketing will evolve as you grow.
By looking further down the road while driving a car, you will see twists and turns in the road and obstacles that are in your way that you would not see if your eyes were not focused down the road a bit.
Don't become overwhelmed by everything you see
Remember that by looking further ahead in the planning of your business you are trying to prevent problems as your business becomes successful.
You still have time to come up with solutions to any issues you see so don't talk yourself out of starting a business just because of a problem that will not become a problem for months or years down the road.
You do need to have solutions to near term business problems so that your business can grow and succeed, but you have a little time before you hit the curves in the road ahead.
Why think grand in the first place?
By thinking grand you can begin to see what steps are needed to get to your end goal by working backwards.
Let's say you are back in first grade and you want to be a doctor. By setting your goals early you have years to discover all the steps needed to get to your goal.
Along the way you will ask others questions and gain insights to help you along your path. You will make choices along your journey that help lead you to your ultimate goal.
The same is true for building a successful business. As your business grows, you will be able to afford to hire people with the knowledge and skills needed to help your business grow further and you proceed along the path you envisioned.
